Hiker rescued after days pinned under rocks

A hiker in Riverside, California’s life was saved by a dog named Mole.

Monday, rescue workers pulled a man out from under rocks, where he had been for up to eight days without food or water.

A fellow hiker, Ramon Llamas, and his German shepherd-mix "Molé" found the man about 8:30 a.m. Monday on Mount Rubidoux.

"He kept on tugging at my pant and whining, pulling me," Llamas told Fox. When Llamas followed Mole to see what he was fussing over, he was shocked at what he found.

A 44-year-old named Paul, whose foot was pinned beneath rocks and was severely dehydrated.

"I said to the guy, 'You need help? Are you OK?' When he reacted, he says, 'Somebody there? Please don't leave me. Don't leave me,'" Llamas said. "'You got some water?' And I gave him water, and a minute later, he said, 'You got some more?' Are you by yourself? 'Yeah, I'm a tourist here. I'm hungry.'"

About an hour later, rescue workers were able to free the man.

"He'd be dead if it wasn't for that dog," a paramedic told Fox.
