Southern chef Paula Deen, known for her fatty recipes such as the Krispy Kreme breakfast burger and fried butter balls, has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. The illness can pose serious threats to one's health, and many people have voiced their concern and support for Deen during this difficult time in her life. However, some of Deen's critics have suggested that after promoting such an unhealthy diet on national television, the diagnosis is less than surprising.
Have Deen's unsavory dietary habits brought her some bad karma? It seems as though another major television chef, Anthony Bourdain, may think so. It's not the first time Bourdain has spoken out about his feelings on Deen - in fact, he once called her the "worst, most dangerous person to America."
Most recently, in an interview with Eater, Bourdain said, "When your signature dish is hamburger in between a doughnut, and you've been cheerfully selling this stuff knowing all along that you've' got type 2 diabetes …it's bad taste if nothing else."
A number of diabetics have also weighed in on the matter, calling Deen a hypocrite for promoting an unhealthy diet while diagnosed with diabetes, according to Fox News.
