Leonardo DiCaprio’s donations for charitable resources cover a range of causes; from the world’s environment and conservation to pediatric health. Along with DiCaprio’s passion for the environment, his list of charities includes Declare Yourself, Feeding America, Pediatric Epilepsy Project and SOS Children’s Villages. After his movie “Blood Diamond”, Leonardo supported the SOS Children’s Villages; an organization dedicated to helping vulnerable children and their families through a difficult journey. Earlier this year, he pledged $1 million dollars to the Clinton Global Initiative in support of Haiti.
DiCaprio Donates a Million in Charitable Resources to Save the Tiger
Because of his passion for the environment, DiCaprio established the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation in 1998. According DiCaprio, the Foundation “supports efforts to secure a sustainable future for our planet and all of its inhabitants.” Beyond this, as of November 24th, DiCaprio donated $1 million to World WildLife Fund for emergency tiger conservation. The funds will be disbursed through the Fund at the California Community Foundation. Earlier this year – 2010 being the Year of the Tiger – DiCaprio worked with the WWF to raise $20 million, which would be used to support the Save the Tigers Now Project. The funds pledged by DiCaprio will be primarily used to help combat poaching.
